Stadion Nizhny Novgorod will host the last match of round 22 in the Russian Premier League. Monday’s football game stands between home side Tambov and Krylya Sovetov. Both teams are fighting hard to secure survival in the Russian Premier League which looks like a dog fight.
Both sides are likely to leave their hearts on the field in the relegation six-pointer. No doubt there will be fireworks albeit not with a host of goals being scored. Tambov has not exactly come out all guns blazing after the winter break. They failed to score in their first two matches this year. Their opening match of the new decade saw them drawing at home to fellow relegation candidates Rubin Kazan.
It is fair to say “the Wolves” lack bite which will, of course, hamper their chances of staying in the league. They finished 2019 strongly picking up 13 points from the 18, but recent results suggest that any momentum built up fizzled out in the break. In contrast, FK Krylia Sovetov Samara will make the trip to Tambov in good spirits.
They have taken four points from six after the restart. Following a draw, at home to Orenburg, they secured an impressive 1-0 win at Rubin Kazan. A result which enabled Miodrag Božovićs men to close the gap between them and safety. Compared to their latest away match Anton Zinkovskiy is suspended for the visitors. Maksim Kanunnikov has sustained an injury leaving him sidelined for the rest of the season. Vitali Lystsov and Vladimir Poluyakhtov both face late tests ahead of the match. The home side seems only to be missing Aleksey Rybin.
Miodrag Božovićs’s charges have proved a potent force away from home in recent matches. They are on four wins and three defeats in their last eight Premier League fixtures on the road. Alongside the triumph against Rubin, Krylya Sovetov’s excellent recent head-to-head record against Tambov is sure to further galvanise their confidence.
Sovetov is unbeaten in six previous meetings with Tambov overall since 2015. It is difficult to see what makes Tambov the bookies favourite in this encounter. Recent form, head-to-head and simple goal-scoring abilities all speak for the visitors. Take the away win on a “draw-no-bet” or go for gold.
