Slutsk shutting Belshina down

The first game on Sunday in the Belarus Premier League sees FK Slutsk welcoming FC Belshina Bobruisk at the Stadyen Haratski. Going into round 6 FK Slutsk was top of the league showing the great form which automatically makes them sound favourites. Their visitors on Sunday are currently the exact opposite of the home side.

In spite of winning the 1. The division last year Belshina have found life in the Premier League tough going. They are still without a win this season with their opening five games producing a meagre two points. That is despite them having played three of their league games at home. There is a little cause for optimism though.

Their season got off to a terrible start with three consecutive defeats, scoring just one goal in the process. They seem to have recovered slightly though, drawing their last couple of fixtures. After the disastrous opening to the campaign at least it must have been a small boost to stop the rut. However, the two recent matches were against Neman Grodno and Smolevichi, the two sides in front of Belshina in the bottom three.

It is hard not to think that FK Slutsk has a good chance of staying top when hosting Belshina. The home side has amassed ten points from their first five games of the new season. A massive contrast to their opening of the 2019 season which could perhaps offer some consolation to Belshina. Last year FK Slutsk had just one win after 11 games. It took 14 rounds to notch up three wins. Something which they have now claimed in five rounds in 2020.

Their only defeat came when going down 1-0 at home to defending champions Dinamo Brest. If one thing speaks for Belshina to pull off a surprise here it is the fact that both recent wins for FK Slutsk came on their travels. With nine goals they are the top scorers so far this season in the Belarus Premier League. Belshina has yet to keep a clean sheet.

FK Slutsk wasn’t exactly immaculate at home at the end of last season and have proven wobbly in their home matches so far. Their last two matches at home had one and two goals and Belshina is obviously focusing their efforts on the defence at the moment. Go for under 2.5 goals.
