The last match in round 8 in the Belarus Premier League has defending champions Dinamo Brest chasing the top half of the table. They are welcoming FC Dinamo Minsk and a home win could see them finish the round as high as 4th place. Depending on other results.
It has been a disappointing campaign so far but perhaps they turned a corner last weekend. They won 3-0 away at Belshina to move up to 10th in the Premier League. They are still six points behind the leaders though and will want to close that gap. Standing in their way is a team who has proven difficult to beat for Dinamo Brest in the past.
Dinamo Minsk starts the Sunday just two places above the relegation zone but only a point behind the home side. The form has been erratic all season and it is anyone’s guess what to expect on Sunday evening. They have won three league games this season but also lost four. They had no answer when Slutsk came visiting last weekend, losing 2-1 in the end.
A point might have been rescued but they missed a first-half penalty. They had won their previous two league games but those came against sides currently in the bottom three. Two of their three away games have been lost and they have only won one of their last eight away league fixtures, conceding in all of them.
Last week was a good one for Dinamo Brest. It started with them reaching the final of the Belarus Cup, albeit after a spectacular second semifinal. They went 2-0 up before losing 4-2 and only winning of away goals. Last week’s win was their third league win of the season which is the positive spin. They have also been beaten three times, two more than in the entire season in 2019.
Home form has seen them earn four points from four games, something they definitely need to improve on. As stated above they have found it tough to break down Dinamo Minsk at home. The latter won at the Stadyen DASK Brestski last season and lost only one of their previous five visits. Both sides have been close to impossible to gain a read on so how about going for “both teams to score”? It is an outcome which would have assured a payout in their last four meetings.
