Are the wheels coming off for Liverpool? An answer could be provided Saturday in the first match of the weekend in the Premier League when Bournemouth swing by Anfield. The home side could certainly do with steadying the boat as they have suddenly encountered some high seas.
They are still top of the Premier League with 79 points, while Bournemouth sits in 18th with 27 points. The Reds have lost three of their last four matches though and two inside a week. With all these losses coming away from home, they will be happy to see Anfield again. They suffered a shock loss to Watford which was followed up with elimination from the FA Cup courtesy of Chelsea. Jürgen Klopp won’t have lost too much sleep over the latter defeat as the FA Cup has been downgraded this season with more important tasks at hand.
For instance, defending the Champions League title and the return leg against Atletico Madrid is coming up in midweek. They have conceded eight goals in four matches and failed to score in three. They still boast a run of 10 straight wins at Anfield though. They have played 14 Premier League matches at home this season and won every single one.
They only conceded in the final five minutes to register a 2-2 draw and having had extended rest, they will hope to build on that. Question is whether it is the right time to meet Liverpool or the exact opposite. Will “The Reds” come out all guns blazing or has the confidence been rattled?
