Borussia Dortmund sits third in the Bundesliga but can move into second with a home win over ninth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt. Dortmund starts the weekend four points behind league leaders Bayern Munich and three adrift of Leipzig in second. They lost ground last week even though the top two played out a draw against each other the day after BVB fell dramatically 4-3 at Bayer Leverkusen, after being 3-2 up with just nine minutes left to play.
B. Dortmund vs Eintracht, Betting tip
That was their second defeat of the week having lost 3-2 at Werder Bremen’s in the DFB Pokal. The defeat at Leverkusen ended a run of three straight league wins. Home form is strong with an 11-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga and ten goals scored in the last two. Twice in their last five home league matches, they have conceded three goals with only two clean sheets.
B. Dortmund vs Eintracht, Outlook & Tip
Eintracht Frankfurt has a lot of work to do if wanting another season in the Europa League. They are currently seven points behind the final Europa League qualification place. Frankfurt had an appalling time in coming up to the Christmas break earning just one point from seven league games.
B. Dortmund Form
However, the winter break has done a world of good for Adi Hütter’s men with 10 points from four Bundesliga matches and knocking second-placed RB Leipzig out of the German Cup after beating them in the Bundesliga as well. Away from home Frankfurt have four points from their last two league matches but just two wins in ten when looking back on the whole season.
Eight of those fixtures have seen both teams score. Dortmund is as good as any home side but Frankfurt are in good form this year and it seems extremely unlikely that Dortmund is able to manage a clean sheet against a side with strikers doing the business and “Flankenkönig” Filip Kostic showing why Hamburger SV once paid good money for the winger. A bet on both teams to score is the wager to make.
B. Dortmund vs Eintracht, Prediction and tip
These are two of the form sides in the Bundesliga and it should be a cracker. Dortmund is yet to lose a home league game this season with seven wins out of ten. As mentioned, they slipped up at Leverkusen last weekend and have conceded 32 league goals this season. Frankfurt slipped down the table towards the end of 2019 but have recovered well since the winter breakthrough with wins and goals aplenty, including twice beating second-placed Leipzig. A bet on both teams to score is the one to make while one could also add the over 2.5 or 3.5 bets.
