Frankfurt feeling the pressure

It is a home side feeling the pressure when Eintracht Frankfurt plays host to Union Berlin Monday night at the Commerzbank Arena. First of all, they will be looking to bounce back from a rather disappointing display against Borussia Dortmund in the last round. Anyone can lose at Signal-Iduna-Park but having started 2020 so well losing as comprehensively as the did was a wake-up call.

They take on a Union Berlin side who currently sit just two places below them in the Bundesliga table. A win is vital for Eintracht to keep up with the teams above them in the table. They lie five points adrift of Freiburg in ninth place with the same number of wins as Union.

Eintracht has lost just one of their last five Bundesliga games, winning three of them. Simultaneously they have claimed wins in both the cup and Europa League so a lot of good can be said about their start to the year. Eintracht has earned a total of 21 points from their 11 Bundesliga home encounters this season. Only four Bundesliga sides have earned more points at home than them this term.

Union Berlin has just two wins in their previous eight Bundesliga fixtures. In five of those, they came out empty-handed, earning a total of just seven points from their last eight Bundesliga matches. Over the same amount of time, only two Bundesliga sides have earned fewer points than Union. They have been one of the poorest sides away from home this season. Going into Monday’s fixture, Union has won just two of their 11 Bundesliga away matches. Their poor defensive record will most definitely be a concern.

Eintracht kept a clean sheet in both their last two Bundesliga matches at home. They should stand a good chance of taking three points Monday night. Three of the away matches that saw Union avoid defeat came against sides below in the table. The fourth was against Augsburg who currently lies occupies 11th in the table.

Eintracht vs Union Berlin, Prediction and tip

Union managed just 11 goals in their 11 Bundesliga away games so far this term. No Bundesliga side have scored fewer away goals than them during this season. They have also scored under 1.5 goals in nine of their 11 Bundesliga away games. We are looking for a home win.
