A battle to not just stay in the title-race but also to consolidate a top-four place takes place in the Bundesliga Saturday evening. Fourth-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach welcomes Borussia Dortmund with the latter having an amazing record against the home side.
Gladbach has registered 46 points, two behind Dortmund who occupies third place. A win for the visitors could see the home side trailing Bayern Munich in the first place by nine points when the weekend is over. Gladbach comes into this unbeaten in their last five matches but with worrying signs of a defence a little too generous. They conceded in their last six matches and has only kept a clean sheet in one of 10 home matches.
Many goals conceded in the end of matches
It is worth noting that they have conceded goals very late in recent matches. Of their last five, they have conceded inside the final 15 minutes three times. Four of their last five matches yielded over 2.5 goals and they have scored two or more goals in four of their last five matches. They have been a massive force at home this season going unbeaten in nine with eight wins in these. They have scored two or more in eight of the nine home league matches.
Borussia Dortmund of the other hand, march to this game with a four-match winning streak, keeping three clean sheets along the way. In eight of their last nine matches, Dortmund has scored twice or more. Having lost two of their last three away matches one would imagine they will approach this brilliant home side with caution. Gladbach has proved themselves lethal in attack several times. Just ask Bayern Munich.
Dortmund has managed just five wins in their 12 away matches this season. They conceded four goals in away matches against Leverkusen and Bayern Munich, so they will be wary of not going under again with a heavy scoreline. They will certainly aim to defend better against a team with a great run at home.
With a dubious defence against a strong home side one could be tempted to go for the home side. It is impossible though to overlook the record Dortmund holds over Gladbach. The visitors have amassed 10 wins in their last 10 encounters. Against no other side can they boast an equally fantastic streak. We will stay clear of the 1×2-market and stick with goals which look like a certainty.
