Cardiff chasing the play offs

Nottingham Forest lost at the weekend thus continuing their inconsistent run of form. They are fifth in the Championship with a tricky away game at Cardiff City Tuesday evening. Forest are six points behind the second and final automatic promotion place. Being in a play-off position at this point of the season does not guarantee anything in the league though.

It is as tight as ever and Cardiff in tenth place are just six points behind them. Forest had a big home win over second-placed Leeds earlier this month but have been unable to build on that victory. Three league games since then have produced just two points with two of those matches being played at the City Ground.

Cardiff vs Nottingham F., Outlook & Tip

Their away form is the third-best in the Championship with seven wins this season. However, only one of their last four has produced a victory with a loss to Birmingham. They did manage a draw at The Hawthorns against league leaders West Bromwich Albion though. In fact, seven of their 17 away matches in the Championship ended all-square.

Cardiff City was relegated from the Premier League last season but still, have a chance of making an immediate return. As mentioned only six points separate them from the final play-off position. Like their opponents, the Welsh side is not in the best of form at present. Two wins in five are not exactly scary. Both wins came in away matches against struggling sides.

Home form has seen Cardiff draw four of their last five league fixtures. In their latest league match in front of their home crowd, they twice had to come from behind to get a point against relegation candidates Wigan Athletic. That was a repeat of their previous home match against Reading. With a run of draws like that, a bet on this finishing all square looks one good option.

However, there are always teams you just loathe to play against, and for some reason, Cardiff is a bogey team for Forest. The head-to-head statistics between these two is nothing short of amazing from a Welsh point of view. Their last 10 encounters have seen Cardiff City winning 9 and losing none. A cautious gambler might opt for the “draw-no-bet”. With a stat like that in mind, we go chasing the home win.
